Somewhere on a tropical island, four of the extras from Planet Of The Apes have abandoned their quest for world domination and formed a band. Each episode ships in a different musical act – Cleo Laine, Julian Lloyd Webber and The Darkness's Justin Hawkins all making appearances – each of whom performs a song with the Zingzillas, presumably in order to earn safe passage off the island. Easter Island statues Gravel and Granite provide Statler and Waldorf-inspired comic relief, mandrill Todd cleans up after everyone, and the Beach Byrds generally irritate. The music (courtesy of Banks and Wag) really is quite exceptional, exploring an eclectic range of styles and utilising the guest stars effectively. Sadly, Zingzillas hasn't been the same since Mark Jefferis stepped down as DJ Loose (even if Josh Elwell does his best) and episodes more or less halved in length – making for a disjointed, rushed production, completely at odds with the show's laid-back island vibe. — James
