The brainchild of Simon Quinn and Simon Ralph, Wussywat extols the virtues of trying your best even when you're borderline dyspraxic. The titular Wussywat endures the trials and tribulations of clumsiness and delayed language development as he stumbles round his garden, generally breaking stuff. Numerous complaints arose from parents over the pet names given to assorted supporting characters – 'Ortus' and 'Duckadile' among them – but this is just simple playing with words. The real problem with Wussywat is that it doesn't fit the mould for a CBeebies show, with humour that seems too vague and sophisticated for its supposed target audience – coming across instead as a dumbed-down version of a programme CITV didn't want. Even the presence of Liza Tarbuck can't save this one. — James
