Justin Fletcher remains the undisputed darling of CBeebies with variation upon variation of this tried and tested formula. Although primarily targeting children with developmental delay and communication issues, and championing Makaton signing at every opportunity, the appeal to youngsters of all abilities is considerable as Justin takes his small guests on (usually) mundane but (always) engaging adventures, interspersed with his wacky alter-egos of Mr Tumble and friends. It’s not always obvious quite how aware some of the children are of who they are on camera with, but the gently challenging dynamic between Justin and them is always a delight to behold. So long as he can carry on churning these out with the love and energy he shows, we’ll forgive him for Justin’s House. — David
