Spiritual successor to Balamory, transplanting the action to the fictional city of Riverseafingal (a composite of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle and London). The central concept is an act of reassurance, designed to allay the fears of children abandoned at daycare with the promise that they are never far from the thoughts of their mothers and fathers. While the children spend their days in the company of the sage Granny Murray (Jane McCarry, really rather young for the part at thirty-seven, unless this is supposed to be a Glasgow council estate) the adults get on with their jobs and inevitably have problems to be solved in the same childlike manner as their Balamory predecessors. The notion of community was never going to be easy to portray in a city setting, but the main problem with Me Too! is that the characters who visit Granny Murray are (with one exception) all parents, making that suspension of disbelief that much harder to maintain. The songs aren't bad, but it's too little, too late. — James
