Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom

Somehow Astley Baker Davies have survived with just Peppa Pig and Ben & Holly as their core productions (with much of the voice talent shared between the two) but it seems to have done them no harm. Ben & Holly traces the adventures of the eponymous Ben Elf and fairy friend Princess Holly in the Little Kingdom where almost everyone is of course very very small. Adventures involve a barking ladybird, magic jelly floods and pretty much anything bonkers that can translate to or exploit the miniaturised environment. The later series lose their way a little, rather scraping the barrel for plot ideas, but the shows are always fun, rarely push any kind of moral message, and if you as an adult don’t laugh out loud at least once or twice per episode you really need to get your sense of humour checked. Listen out for occasional appearances by Alexander Armstrong and Andy Hamilton, and a fairy mayor looking very much like Boris Johnson but sadly not actually voiced by him, crazy fool. — David
